As an animal lover I can’t think at a better job than a wildlife photographer. They always get the chance of unique, once in a lifetime encounters with Mother Nature and its majestic beings!
Gren Sowerby is among the lucky ones. The 69-year-old photographer from UK dedicated the last four decades of his life to his passion, wildlife photography. Gren admits he got the perfect job and every moment spent close to the wild beasts it’s always a pleasure. But, yet, last month while in Maasai Mara, Kenya, he got the “shock of his life.”
The experienced photographer was on a safari when spotted a majestic lion around 40-50 feet away from him. Naturally, he prepared for some beautiful shots with the king of the jungle. Only the king decided to play some tricks with Gren.
“I lent in to take a photo when he let out a huge roar — I got the shock of my life,” Sowerby told to the South West News Service. “He roared to say: ‘I’m the King of the Jungle’ and then I couldn’t believe it when he smiled at me like when someone winks at you to say like: ‘Haha!’”
The huge lion stunned the photographer with a big scary roar, then he immediately started to smile at him. Of course, no matter how scary it was, Gren remained there and captured the unique scene!
“I was really happy with the photos, I only looked at them properly when I got home. I regularly go on these safaris and really enjoy photographing wildlife. They have grown up around the safari so they’re used to cars and tourists,” Gren Sowerby says. “The King of the Jungle is always something you’ve got to capture and I’m so pleased I got the shot.”
This isn’t the first time when a ferocious lion is showing his playful side, though. Earlier this year a video of a lion waking up a lioness in a truly hilarious way, went viral on social media. Check it out!
